10 Fun Ideas for a Memorable Hens Night

May 31, 2017 / Bridal & Dress Jewellery

When it comes to planning your hen night, the key to having a good time is picking an activity which all of your guests will enjoy. Your guests will include your friends and family, and might also include your partner’s extended family too. The guest list could include everyone from a younger niece to a grandparent, so in that case you’ll need to pick something which works for people of all ages.

To make sure that all your guests are having fun and that you have a great night together, you’ll want to select an activity which is accessible, affordable, and memorable. Rather than the typical drinking and going out, you could try some of these activities for your hen night instead:

Take a road trip.

Find out if your favorite band is playing and take a road trip to see them, or pick a city that you’ve always wanted to visit and drive there. Arrange a couple of cars and split driving duties, and pack plenty of snacks and some great tunes for the journey to enjoy the feel of the open road.

Have a picnic.

If you and all your friends live in the city, it might be hard to take several days off from work and other responsibilities. An afternoon picnic in the park is something that everyone will have time for, and if each guest brings snacks or drinks then you’ll have plenty to eat. If you love a good cocktail, bring along some white wine, fruit juice, and fresh fruits, and mix up a big bowl of punch when you arrive for everyone to share.

Take a dance class.

Then, go out dancing. Do a night out at the club but with a twist: take a dance class first. Try a class of salsa, swing, or samba dancing to learn the basic steps, then afterwards go out as a group to practice your moves on the town.

Go camping.

If you’re the outdoorsy type, grab your sleeping bags, tents, and propane stove, and go camping for a few days. You can hike during the day and cook marshmallows over an open fire at night. If you stay at a dedicated camping site they may also have indoor sleeping space for those in your group who prefer four walls.

Visit a theme park.

A day at a theme park will offer water slides and rollercoasters for the adrenaline junkies, and plenty of more gentle rides for the kids or the less adventurous folks. Plus you can usually get discounts on tickets if you book in advance as a group.

Have a home spa night.

Remember how much fun it was to have sleepovers as a kid? Recreate that childhood experience with your friends by inviting everyone to your house for the night. Throw some cushions on the floor, rent some cute cheesy movies, and ask your friends to bring along their nail varnishes and other beauty supplies. Then you can give each other mani-pedis, slap on a face mask, and enjoy the luxury of the most comfortable spa ever. This one is great if you’re on a tight budget or if you’re not someone who enjoys noisy and crowded public venues.

Do a cake decorating workshop.

Who doesn’t like cake? Unleash your creative side with cake decorating. If you don’t fancy taking a class, there’s almost certainly someone in your group of friends who knows how to decorate a cake, so get them to teach you. The enjoyable thing about this activity is that it doesn’t matter if you’re absolutely terrible at it – you still get to eat a tasty cake at the end!

Have a relaxing trip to the sauna.

Wedding planning can be stressful, so treat yourself and your group to a relaxing day at the sauna. If you have a sauna park in your area then you can buy a day ticket which will give you access to several saunas at different temperatures, plus a pool and other amenities like a steam room. Let the stress of planning float away in a gentle puff of steam.

Host a poker night.

Who says poker is only for the guys? Find a big round table from somewhere, get a deck of cards and some chips to play with, and invite everyone to your house to let out your ruthless side. One of the funny things about playing poker is that you get to see a side of your friends that you usually wouldn’t – maybe your sweet, kind grandmother-in-law will turn out to be an absolute hustler. Play for chips, for matchsticks, or even for pennies if you want to see people get really competitive.

Have a mixed hen and stag party.

These days, many couples have close friends of both sexes, and you might not fancy the idea of a party which is gender segregated or separate from your partner. So you could have a co-ed party or a joint party instead – whatever works for you to bring together all the people who you love to have a good time and celebrate your upcoming marriage.
