One of the most popular trends in engagement rings at the moment is design’s incorporating cushion cut stone’s. The cushion cut has been around since the 19th century and is still hugely popular today. Whether it is a diamond or your favourite coloured gemstone, cushion cuts are a wonderful alternative to other popular shapes such as the round brilliant or princess cut.
Cushion cut stones will vary in appearance depending on their individual dimensions. Cushion cuts generally range from square to rectangular shapes. The main characteristics that set them apart from other cuts are their beautiful rounded corners and the large open tables. These features create the sparkle that cushion cuts are famous for. It is important to remember to look at a diamond closely before making your choice.  A diamond will only reveal its true nature when you view it in real life. The large table of a cushion cut may mean that any inclusions will be magnified, we therefore recommend selecting a stone with a clarity grading of SI1 or higher.
The cushion cut with its beautiful old-world look is the perfect choice for bringing your vintage style engagement ring to life. Celebrities have fallen in love with this trend! Two of our favourite Hollywood cushion cut engagement rings is Jennifer Garner’s fabulous 4.5 carat rectangular cushion cut ring and Molly Sims’ 6 carat stunner!
