SI1

Cut

The Cut grade reflects the diamond's overall light performance by assessing the angles and uniformity of the facets. The GIA grading guidelines take into account: Face up appearance (brightness, fire, scintillation) and the design (facet proportions and dimensions). The GIA uses the following grades for Cut:

Round Diamonds: Excellent (EX), Very good (VG), Good (G), Fair (F) and Poor (P).

The GIA only assigns cut grades to round diamonds. On our website, other shapes are given informal cut grades based on their overall light performance and proportions. The industry recognised gradings for these are:

Fancy Shapes: Ideal, Excellent, Good or Poor.

Excellent

Polish

Refers to the smoothness and quality of polish of each facet of a diamond. Polish is graded on the GIA scale from Excellent to Poor based on the presence and visibility of polish imperfections at 10x magnification. Diamonds with a polish grade of Good to Excellent will not have any polishing imperfections visible to the naked eye.

Excellent

Symmetry

Refers to the precision and consistency of the facet arrangement and placement on a diamond.
According to GIA, symmetry is graded on a scale from Excellent to Poor based on the presence and visibility of symmetry deviations at 10x magnification.

Excellent

Fluorescence

Refers to the intensity of the diamond’s reactions to long wave UV rays. In rare instances, some diamonds with extremely strong fluorescence may appear hazy or oily.
