While there’s a huge range of gemstones that can be used in a wedding ring, there are a few things you might like to think about when choosing the best fit for you. Classic choices such as diamonds and sapphires are chosen not just for their visual style and reputation, but also for their durability. If you plan to wear your wedding ring everyday, our jewellers will generally recommend these gemstones over softer stones, as they are hard-wearing and able to resist a lifetime of wear. Beyond this, coloured gemstones are an excellent choice for the perfect wedding ring.

Once you’ve chosen the type and colour of gemstone to be used in your wedding ring, the next important consideration is the metal. As with all bespoke pieces, our jewellery designers will use their extensive experience to help guide your decision.

There's a few different considerations when pairing a gemstone with a precious metal. You might like to create contrast in your ring to make your gemstone stand out (for example, placing a dark or bright coloured stone like a blue spinel or an emerald against a pale metal like white gold) or compliment your centre stone with a metal that's similar in colour (such as a pink sapphire and rose gold). However, it's mostly down to personal preference, and our available metal options can suit both women’s and men’s wedding rings with gemstones.
