My partner and I decided to go on a tour of melbourne jewellers and stumbled across Larsen towards the end of our day. We were looking for a custom made engagement ring and this place blew every other place out the water - admittedly we were a but intimidated walking into the place but were instantly made to feel at ease by Alex who handled the situation incredibly well.

We had a brief idea of what we wanted but Alex asked all the right questions and showed us different compositions and ended up sketching the ring for us and ordering in some stones, all before we paid a cent. We then went in when the stones arrived and OMG. It was perfect, I paid the deposit on the spot, and Bang - the *INCREDIBLE* ring was ready after a couple of months! I cant thank you enough for such an amazing experience. If anyone is thinking about getting a bespoke ring made to fit at a really solid price, don’t hesitate to give these guys a visit!

Thanks again guys! 🫶 1000/10

We were so lucky to have found Ben at Larsen Jewellery. My partner had a unique engagement ring design and the minute Ben saw the reference photo he was confident he knew exactly what she wanted. To sit down with a jeweller (while watching another work in the studio) was completely different to the showroom/salesperson experience we had at other companies.

Ben knew what my partner wanted in terms of design but also clearly understood the style and feeling she was going for (if that makes sense). Dealing directly with the jeweller guided us on what would/wouldn’t work and we trusted Ben’s experience to bring out the best in the ring.

Any nervousness we had while waiting vanished when we saw the ring for the first time: stunning workmanship, the exact feeling/design my partner was going for and an incredibly natural fit. Luckily my partner fell in love with it the minute she saw it and over the last few months I believe she loves it even more as it slowly becomes a part of her.

It took us over a year to decide on who to entrust but from our first consultation at Larsen we knew we had finally found our place and it was all down to Ben’s experience, approach and love for his craft.

Thank you Ben and the Brisbane team.

What an incredible experience working with Larsen, especially Alex. Prior to coming to Larsen we visited about 8 different diamond boutiques in Melbourne, it was only here we were lucky enough to work directly with the person creating our engagement ring not just a salesperson.

From the get go Alex built trust with his knowledge and experience within the industry. We knew this was where we wanted to go and I immediately put a deposit down after our first consultation. We’re so happy with the result and I’m incredibly grateful for such a wonderful moment to have for the rest of our lives.

Find the Perfect Emerald Cut Engagement Ring

For a truly special engagement, nothing surpasses the refined elegance of our bespoke emerald cut engagement rings. Originally a cut for emeralds, modern emerald cut engagement rings feature diamonds or other precious stones, all of which benefit from the sophisticated and sleek quality of this angular cut. Explore Our Emerald Cut Engagement Rings

Emerald cut diamonds are unique and are faceted in a way that makes them look very distinct from almost every other diamond shape, aside from asscher cuts (which is a square version of an emerald cut).

Ever popular, an emerald cut diamond has a timeless look. While the cut was originally intended for emeralds (hence the name), it was too beautiful to not share with diamonds. It is little wonder why so many celebrities are presented with their very own emerald cut engagement ring. Whether you prefer a simple solitaire setting or elaborate vintage halo, speak to our designers who can create the perfect engagement ring for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We’re happy to answer them!

What is an emerald cut engagement ring?

An emerald cut engagement ring features an emerald cut stone. Traditionally, this cut was exclusively for emeralds but emerald cut diamonds have long been favoured for engagement rings. This style features step cuts, a large table and an elongated, rectangular shape. At Larsen Jewellers, we’re proud to craft emerald cut engagement rings for Australia, with an in-house team of experts ready to create a special ring made just for you.

What does an emerald cut engagement ring mean?

A classic emerald cut engagement ring features a stone with the emerald cut style. As the name suggests, this cut was originally for emeralds, though now it is also a great cut choice for diamonds and other precious stones. The emerald cut has a unique rectangular shape with step cuts and a large table, making it a unique and showstopping choice for an engagement ring.

Do engagement rings with emerald cut diamonds sparkle?

The type of wedding ring or band that suits an emerald cut engagement ring will depend on the style of engagement ring you choose – for instance, whether your engagement ring is contemporary in style or has a more vintage silhouette. Whatever your tastes, our in-house jewellers will work closely to find a wedding band that perfectly suits your emerald cut engagement ring.

What does an emerald cut engagement ring symbolise?

Like all engagement rings, an emerald cut is a timeless and classic way to symbolise love and devotion. Some also consider the emerald cut to represent clarity, an open heart and the strength of the love it celebrates.

Are emerald cut engagement rings popular?

As one of the most striking and timeless gem styles, emerald cuts have long been popular for engagement rings. The cut’s clean lines, beautiful clarity and impression of size have also made this style popular with celebrities.

Does an emerald cut diamond make an engagement ring look bigger?

With its elongated, rectangular shape, large table and step cuts, emerald cut diamonds tend to look bigger and more opulent than many other cuts. Particularly, the rectangular length gives the impression of greater size when worn, drawing the eye down the wearer’s finger.

What is the best ratio for a diamond in an emerald cut engagement ring?

A diamond’s ratio refers to the comparison of length to width, which is relevant as emerald cut diamonds have a rectangular shape. Generally, we consider a ratio of between 1.3 to 1.5:1 to be ideal.

Are emerald cut engagement rings more expensive?

Emerald cut engagement rings can be more expensive than other cuts, but it is not always the case. To take advantage of the cut’s large table, the diamonds used for emerald cut engagement rings are often those with a high level of clarity, which can make them more expensive in some cases.

Do I have to have a higher clarity diamond for emerald cut engagement rings?

While a higher clarity diamond can enhance the beauty of an emerald cut engagement ring, it's not necessary. The unique cut of emerald shapes can hide certain inclusions, making slightly lower clarity grades still visually appealing. However, for a more pristine and transparent appearance, opting for a higher clarity diamond is advisable.

Is there such thing as a square emerald cut engagement ring?

Yes, a square emerald cut engagement ring exists, and is very similar to an Asscher cut (the two cuts are often confused for one another). This variation combines the distinctive step-cut faceting of an emerald cut with a square shape, offering a stylish and sophisticated choice for those seeking a distinctive engagement ring.

What is a 'step cut' in an emerald cut engagement ring?

A 'step cut' in an emerald cut engagement ring refers to the faceting style where parallel facets are arranged in a step-like fashion. Unlike brilliant cuts with triangular facets, emerald cuts feature rectangular facets that create a subtle play of light, emphasizing clarity and showcasing the diamond's inherent beauty.
