Emerald Cut Rings

Emerald cut diamonds are unique and are faceted in a way that makes them look very distinct from almost every other diamond shape, aside from asscher cuts (which is a square version of an emerald cut).

They are what is called a ‘step cut’ diamond, due to the angled corners and parallel facets which create a visible step like appearance within the stone. Emerald cuts vary in length to width ratio, creating a variety of combinations that can all make for beautiful stones. It is also significantly easier to see inclusions within a step cut diamond, so it is most important to focus on choosing a high clarity.

Why choose an emerald cut diamond ring?

Ever popular, an emerald cut diamond has a timeless look. While the cut was originally intended for emeralds (hence the name), it was too beautiful to not share with diamonds. It is little wonder why so many celebrities are presented with their very own emerald cut engagement ring. Whether you prefer a simple solitaire setting or elaborate vintage halo, speak to our designers who can create the perfect ring for you.

What Our Customers Say

Larsen Jewellery were amazing throughout the whole experience of having our engagement ring designed and crafted. I appreciate all the effort they went to to get the ring out to me on time being in a rural location. The ring is absolutely stunning and has been crafted with such skill.

We had 3 rings made by Larsen Jewellery and were looked after by Alex Somerville. Turnaround times were honoured, promises kept and getting in for an appointment at short notice when it suited our schedule wasn't an issue. Our rings were made specifically to our own preference, with good advice from our jeweller where we needed it. All of the rings are wonderful and we're very happy with our results. I've no problem recommending Alex, we couldn't have asked for better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We’re happy to answer them!

Do I have to have a higher clarity diamond for emerald cut engagement rings?

Due to the large open tables and window-like appearance of a step cut diamond, we recommend choosing a slightly higher clarity grade for an emerald cut than you would for a brilliant cut as the inclusions are easier to see.

What is a step cut diamond?

A step cut diamond is a type of cut that features large open tables and parallel facets. This style of faceting emphasises the clarity of a diamond over the brilliance. The geometric, elongated facets act as windows into the diamond which can make it easier to see any inclusions.

Is there such thing as a square emerald cut engagement ring?

If you’re looking for a square shaped version of an emerald cut diamond, then an asscher cut is perfect for you. Created in 1902, it has equal width to length meaurements with X-shaped facets from its corners to its centre culet.

What are the best designs for an emerald cut engagement ring?

Emerald cut diamonds can be used in any kind of design you like, but we particularly love them in a simple solitaire, halo or side stone design where the emerald cut diamond can take centre stage. Emerald cut diamonds are also particularly well suited to Art Deco designs.
