Went in at short notice to find a wedding present for my fiancee. The staff were very helpful and informative including sending the earrings I wanted down from Brisbane to view so I could see them before deciding to purchase. Thanks to Alex for his help. Most importantly, fiancee now wife very happy.

Going with Larsen to create our engagement ring was the best decision we made! They provided such a supportive and helpful experience throughout the whole process. We connected with Fleur and she was so knowledgeable and friendly. She expertly guided us through the ring customization process, and was able to translate our ideas into the perfect ring. We highly recommend Larsen to all our friends and anyone looking to create a lifelong piece!

My partner and I decided to go on a tour of melbourne jewellers and stumbled across Larsen towards the end of our day. We were looking for a custom made engagement ring and this place blew every other place out the water - admittedly we were a but intimidated walking into the place but were instantly made to feel at ease by Alex who handled the situation incredibly well.

We had a brief idea of what we wanted but Alex asked all the right questions and showed us different compositions and ended up sketching the ring for us and ordering in some stones, all before we paid a cent. We then went in when the stones arrived and OMG. It was perfect, I paid the deposit on the spot, and Bang - the *INCREDIBLE* ring was ready after a couple of months! I cant thank you enough for such an amazing experience. If anyone is thinking about getting a bespoke ring made to fit at a really solid price, don’t hesitate to give these guys a visit!

Thanks again guys! 🫶 1000/10

Find the Perfect Side Stone Engagement Ring

Find a beautiful piece worthy of your engagement with our bespoke side stone engagement rings. Created with care by our expert designers and jewellers, each side stone engagement ring features a central stone, complemented by smaller accent stones, either in a cluster or set on along band. A classic style – first appearing in the late 19th century but popularised during the Art Deco period – side stone engagement rings can offer a sparkling vintage aesthetic or invoke eye-catching contemporary class, depending on the stones and setting you choose.

At Larsen Jewellery, we’re passionate about ethically-crafted, unique pieces that last a lifetime and truly celebrate your one-of-a-kind relationship. Working with our in-house jewellery designers, choose from a glamorous selection of precious metals for your side stone engagement ring band, including platinum, rose gold, yellow gold and white gold. For the central stone, we offer a range of diamond shapes to suit your tastes – including round brilliant, oval, pear, princess, emerald, cushion cuts and more – as well as the alternative option of bold, coloured gemstones.

Explore Our Side Stone Engagement Rings

Engagement rings featuring more than one diamond are referred to as rings with side stones, or multi stone rings. The type of setting utilised in rings with side stones can vary from claw settings to channel and pave settings, depending on the style of the ring.

Diamond rings with side stones usually feature a larger central diamond, with a number of smaller diamonds set on either side. This style of engagement ring looks beautiful with any number of diamond shapes for the central stone, including round brilliant, oval, pear, princess, emerald and cushion cuts. The smaller side stones can be microclaw set on either side of the centre stone, channel set, bead set for a more vintage look, or pave set to create a glittering overall look for your engagement ring.

Popularised during the Art Deco period, engagement rings with side stones can range from classic designs to bold, contemporary designs using a mixture of diamonds and coloured gemstones in a variety of shapes and sizes. The possibilities are endless!

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We’re happy to answer them!

What is a side stone engagement ring?

A side stone engagement ring features a central stone surrounded by smaller, complimentary accent stones. Traditionally, the centre stone is a diamond, but can also often be a coloured gemstone such as a sapphire. These side stones can be set either as a cluster around the centre stone, or along the "shoulders" or band of the ring. Like with our other engagement rings, our experienced jewellers can work with you to craft a bespoke side stone ring just for you, incorporating a range of gemstone types, cuts, and colours in the perfect design to suit your personality and tastes.

How does the choice of side stones affect the overall look of an engagement ring?

Side stones often add timeless glamour to an engagement ring, as they can appear both opulent and sophisticated. The colour, cut, and number of side stones can be customised in nearly endless combinations, which means that whether you’re looking for an eye-catching statement piece or an understated classic, a side stone engagement ring can be the perfect choice. With a wide range of stones and settings available, our jewellers will work closely with you at every stage to ensure the look of your engagement ring is just as you have envisioned.

How does a side stone engagement ring differ from other types?

Side stone engagement rings can offer an expanded palette of colours, textures and styles while designing an engagement ring. While styles such as solitaire rings that have just one central stone evoke traditional simplicity, the addition of smaller complementary stones can give side stone engagement rings further depth and personality. Whether you’re looking for a glittering engagement ring that invokes old-world glamour or prefer a sleeker style, we can work with you to create something truly special.

Are side stone engagement rings more expensive?

Whilst adding further stones to a ring can seem a more expensive way to go compared to solitaire engagement rings, this is not necessarily the case. By adjusting the size, type, or clarity of the centre and complementary stones, it’s very much possible to find a side stone engagement ring at a similar budget to a solitaire engagement ring.

Can you add side stones to an engagement ring?

Yes, you certainly can. Adding complementary or ‘side’ stones to an engagement ring is a style that was first popularised during the art deco period of the twentieth century and retains a classic and timeless style today. Side stone rings feature a central stone, complemented by smaller stones either clustered together or set along the band. The choice of central and complementary stones is entirely up to you, making side stone engagement rings a popular choice for a truly personalised engagement.

What is a pavé in side stone engagement rings?

In side stone engagement rings, pavé refers to small diamonds set closely together, creating a surface that appears to be "paved" with sparkling stones. Hence why the term is a borrowed French word for a paving stone or pavement. This technique can add brilliance and enhance the overall aesthetic of the ring, accentuating the centre stone.

Can I have coloured gemstones in my side stone engagement ring?

Yes, you can! Sapphires, rubies, and emeralds are all popular side stone choices for a vibrant and meaningful accent. Whether you prefer a monochromatic or a multicoloured look, coloured gemstones in a side stone setting can add personality to your engagement ring, creating a distinctive and eye-catching design to perfectly suit you and your style.
