Are marquise diamonds out of style?
Marquise diamonds are unique, and always have had unique designs to go along with them, so they may not be everyone’s favourite. That said, if this diamond shape is your favourite for your engagement ring, it’s definitely your style, rather than “out of style”.
Are marquise diamonds more expensive?
Typically they’re less expensive than round brilliant cuts. Because they have a larger surface area from above, a marquise diamond of the same weight will often look larger than a round brilliant diamond.
What does a marquise diamond symbolise?
While the marquise diamond doesn’t signify anything in particular, it does have an interesting history: King Louis XV of France wanted a diamond cut that matched the lips of Marquise de Pompadour. So if you’re looking for romance in your diamond engagement ring, this might be just the ticket.
