The experience I had with getting my fiancés engagement ring made at Larsen Jewellery was excellent from start to finish. Anna was amazing and really took the time to ensure she understood exactly what design my partner would like, even checking with other jewellers throughout the consult to see if the design was possible. The ring itself is perfect and we both couldn't be any happier.I'd highly recommend Larsen for those seeking a very personalised, professional and special experience when creating their custom jewellery. We cannot wait to return and begin designing our wedding bands!

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? We’re happy to answer them!

Why are round diamonds the most popular shape?

Round diamonds are the most popular shape because they have been cut to maximise the fire and sparkle created by light reflecting through the facets. Round engagement rings have a timeless and elegant aesthetic that has been popular for centuries.

Which shape diamond sparkles the most?

Round diamonds are the most brilliant shape of all, due to the way that light is reflected through the 58 facets. This diamond shape has been specifically engineered to display the optimal fire and scintillation- the two effects that combine to cause the famous diamond 'sparkle'.

Why are round engagement rings more expensive than other shapes?

In order to achieve the amazing sparkle that a round brilliant diamond has, a specific and exact shape must be cut from the diamond rough. This precise shape means a lot of diamond is cut away, the finished diamond is significantly smaller than the rough. This means the cost per retained carat is higher, and the resulting diamond is more expensive to produce.

How much should you spend on a round engagement ring?

There is no set rule to determine how much you should spend on an engagement ring. Old “rule-of-thumb” ideas such as the 3 months’ salary have gone out the window, in place of more thoughtful budgeting. The big question to ask yourself is what you can afford and what are you comfortable with. At Larsen, we work within your set budget and never push you outside of your limits.
